Exercising with Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency

Van Ryckeghem Bram, 2025
Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD) is a rare metabolic disorder affecting fat oxidation. This pilot study investigates the safety and metabolic response to high-intensity exercise in children with MCADD compared to healthy controls. Blood samples are analyzed for various biomarkers, and respiratory exchange ratio is measured. The goal is to assess whether such exercise is safe and how it affects energy metabolism.
